Although you can buy Maisy Mouse cake transfers I made this Maisy myself by just enlarging a picture I had of Maisy and using it as a stencil on rolled out icing. This cake was very easy and only took me a couple of hours to complete.
I layered the icing to give it a bit of a 3D effect. I finished the picture off with writing gel. Maisy is hand drawn and so it is important to not have her finished off perfectly for example one hand is bigger than the other. ( I found this difficult to do because I kept wanting her to look neat and perfect but the authentic Maisy is not, so I redid it).
My best hints are to ice the cake with a knife regularly dipped in boiling water. Ice a frozen cake as it is easier to get the icing to stick on properly – especially on the sides, and if you are using writing gel I try to do this as late as I can because I often find that it runs if it is left too long, especially when it is warm.
