My little boy adores Mickey Mouse so I didn’t need to think too much about what cake he would be having for his birthday.
I made the Mickey Mouse 1st Birthday Cake out of a 9inch round tin and 2 6inch round tins. The ears were slightly carved to make them ‘sit’ against the head better. I totally covered the head and ears with black roll out icing then using a picture of Mickey printed from the internet I traced the features of his face onto some roll out icing I had coloured flesh colour.
I used a very sharp knife to cut this out then stuck it on top of the black base. The rest of the detail was done in the same way.
I finished it off with fondant stars on wire, stars with the letters of my boys name written on each one, and ribbon wrapped around the bottom of the cake board and around the base of the cake.
