After trying to find the Wilton Minnie Mouse pan and could not, my husband and I decided to try our hand at designing our own Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake for our granddaughter’s 3rd birthday. We used a 8 ¼ inch round cake pan for the face and two smaller round pans, about 4”, to make the ears.
My husband did the outline onto the cake with a pencil and I outlined the face with black icing. After the outline, I filled in the eyes, mouth, nose, and face. We then put the cake in the freezer. The next day I made a sheet cake and we put Minnie on top of the sheet cake and placed her ears in place. I put buttercream icing on the sheet cake and then positioned Minnie on top of the sheet cake very carefully.
After adding the ears, I proceeded to add the black to the face and ears. Her bow was a butter cookie that we made by cutting a bow out of the dough by hand. Extra decoration was put around the outside of the sheet cake and I added her name and Happy Birthday.
We were very pleased with the final product, but it was a lot of work and approximately 10 hours of time.
I have been searching for a Minnie or Mickey pan, decided to make Minnie for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. I am going to try to make a cake similar to yours, I love the picture and am sure it was even more beautiful in person. You guys did an awesome job.
Take your round pan and draw a circle on paper. Then use a pencil to draw the face. When you have it like you want, you can cut it out and put on the cake for a pattern. Once you have the black part outlined, you have it made.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this cake. She turned out beautiful. You and your husband did a GREAT job!!!!!
