This Homemade Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake was made after getting ideas from this website and it turned out cute and delicious! I made two round cakes (one 8-inch and one 9-inch) and cut the ears out of the cooled 9-inch cake. I made the ears round except for one side that went next to the face.
This was my first time using fondant and it was fun! I made the polka dots by flattening some fondant and using the circle of a decorators tip to make them round. The bow was made out of white fondant dyed pink and I pressed white fondant polka dots onto it. The whites of the eyes and the tongue are also fondant.
I bought black frosting in a tube and used that for the eyes, nose and mouth. I used the Wilton decorating directions for the Mickey pan off their website to help guide me. For the nose, I smoothed the frosting after putting cornstarch on my finger. Stars could be used on the nose too. Don’t forget the eyelashes like I did.
The ears are covered with chocolate frosting and then crushed Oreos on top. Lastly, I used white frosting mixed with a tiny bit of red and yellow food coloring to make a peach color for the face. It was my first time making stars and it wasn’t hard but made a big difference to how nice the cake looked.
Thanks for the wonderful ideas! My daughter was excited to see Minnie Mouse!
