I made this Minnie Mouse Cupcake Birthday Cake for my little cousin for her 3rd birthday. I baked 3 dozen regular size cupcakes, and 6 mini cupcakes, and I ended up using 33 regular size and 4 mini cupcakes to get the shape to resemble Minnie Mouse (the mini cupcakes are used to fill in the gaps). I used black food coloring for the ears and side of the face, and I mixed 8 drops yellow, 6 drops red and 2 drops green in a separate plate and added little by little to white frosting till I got the skin color I wanted for the face.
Then I just used the tubed icing for the outlines, the gel icing to fill the eyes, nose and mouth, and shaped a pink starburst for the tongue. For the bow I made that out of Wilton’s ready to use fondant and used food coloring. I used 2 mini cupcakes inside the fondant bow to hold it together.
