A friend of mine saw a cake like this Miss Spider and the Sunny Patch Kids Cake online and asked me if I could make it for her daughter’s 2nd birthday. I used the 12″ inch and 8″ pans from the set of 3 Wilton square cake pans. The top was made in an 8″ Pyrex bowl. She didn’t want the cake covered in fondant but I used it for the accents.
I also used fondant to make Miss Spider and the Sunny Patch Kids. I covered the cake board with green fondant. I sharpened the end of a wooden dowel and pushed it down the center of all of the cakes into the cake board for stability and made it long enough for Miss Spider to be stuck on top of the cake. I used the grass tip to embellish different areas on the cake and the cake board.
Everyone enjoyed the cake and I was excited that it turned out as well as it did!
