I had a request for this monkey cake from my son’s best friend turning 22 last month. I used a round spring foam cake pan for the head and a Wilton oval (football) shaped cake pan for the face and then I cut an additional oval in half for the ears.
The cake itself is a yellow cake with banana added. I used chocolate frosting and covered with brown colored coconut. I then piped the eyes, mouth and ears with black frosting. This cake took about 2 hours to complete after it cooled.
I did a lot of research on this website for ideas for the cake. You guys really did some cute monkey cakes and were the inspiration for my cake. Everyone really enjoyed the taste of the banana and chocolate making it a real monkey cake. I can not wait until the next request for a cake comes along.
