This Monkey Face Birthday Cake is a homemade ‘confetti’ cake, it’s one of many that I’ve done for my family and friends. I used a typical square Pyrex to bake the cake. My icing is a homemade butter cream and chocolate icing for the face.
I shaved the top of the cake and used it to shape the face and ears of the monkey. This is for a first birthday, more of a practice cake for this weekend’s Monkey Safari. I used an 18 (Wilton’s) star tip for the white area and 17 (Wilton’s) star tip for the darker chocolate. The small dots were a simple cut at the end of an icing bag.
I really enjoyed doing this cake. It turned out a lot better than I had originally thought. I came to this website to gather some ideas. What a great place to view cakes! I have viewed many cakes on this site and enjoy seeing what everyone else can create.
