I was asked to make a Monster Drink birthday cake for a teenager’s birthday. I searched but couldn’t find anything, so I was on my own. I used a box cake mix, following directions on box, divided mix into two loaf pans.
I baked as directed on box, let cool and remove from pans. Place cakes with flat side down on a decorating board (or what you plan to serve it on). I put the cake in the freezer for two hours to make frosting easier. I used ready made frosting with some confectionery sugar added to thicken it (and give it a little homemade taste). I did a crumb layer frosting using chocolate as requested by the teenager.
As the frosting was setting I looked up on line a picture of the Monster Drink and picked the one that I wanted to copy. I used foil for the top of the can Iroll the edge to give it the lip like the can) and a can tab from a Monster drink (some are colored to go with the flavor). Using a small amount of frosting on the back of the foil I place it on the top end of the cake, a small amount of frosting to hold the tab in place.
I mixed the colored frosting to match the can I was coping. Using the small round tip in a frosting bag, piped on the words following the picture. For the Monster word, I used the same tip but seguilled the tip back and forth to match the writing on the can and give it the Monster look.
The teenager loved it and so did her friends. I now get a lot of requests for drink cakes. It wasn’t that hard, after thinking for some time.
So cool. I love monster drinks. About time there is a cool cake to go with it. Thanks
