I made this Monster High doll cake for a wonderful 7 year old who loves Monster High.
I am not a big planner when it comes to designing my cakes. I just kind of let them happen.
I used an 8″ round pan and the doll pan. No plastic Barbie items are used on on my cakes; everything is edible. You just need a little imagination to figure it out. Believe me, I’m no artist. I had no extra equipment or cutters when I made this cake, just a piping bag and a few round cutters and an Exacto knife. The chains are hand rolled and the roses I just made on toothpicks a week ahead of time and let them dry. For the doll body I rolled a log of fondant and made it into a waist.
For the coffin (you’ll see it in the cake reaction image) I cut out pieces and glued them together with royal icing. I then let it dry for a week or so then added some zebra stripes.
This cake was so fun to make and one of my best to date. As you can see from the second photo, the birthday girl loved her cake.
