I was able to come up with a very satisfying Monster Truck Birthday Cake for my Grandson, thanks to other submissions to this site. I made 2 batches of a standard pound cake recipe (any cake mix should do), and a standard 11″x14″ cake pan.
The sides were iced in white buttercream icing on which were placed small squares of black fondant for the checkerboard. The jumping ramp is Wilton’s small doll cake pan, iced red, cut in half. There are 4 small cars in the middle. The mud bog is chocolate pudding, and the track is crushed graham crackers.
Although simple, it gave a lot of enjoyment to the kids who attended the party, and supplied my grandson with a few more monster trucks to play with. Thanks to everyone who submitted their cakes for the ideas.
