I made this Monster Truck Birthday Cake for my son’s 3rd birthday. I used a 12″x18″ sheet cake and small rounds for the tires. I used 3 boxes of cake mix. I always bake the cake forms the night before the party and freeze them overnight for easier decorating. The entire cake is iced in buttercream icing colored with gel coloring.
The truck body is star-tipped with a 16 tip. The white frosting and grey at the bottom of the truck was smoothed using a frosting knife and hot water. I put silver glitter flakes on the windshield and rims. I used black licorice on the tires for treads and the ‘dirt piles’ are made of chocolate icing, brownie bits and crumbled chocolate wafers.
To finish the cake, I trimmed the top and bottom edges with a 21 tip. My son loved his cake!
