I made this Monster Truck cake for my son’s 5th birthday. He saw the plates and napkins in a store and said that is what he wanted for his birthday cake. So I decided to test my limits!!
I made all of the icing homemade from a recipe I got offline. For the cakes I baked 2-9×13 cakes for the body of the truck. For the cab I used a 9×9 and cut it in half and cut it down to make it look like the slant of a windshield. For the tires I just went to our local bakery and got 4 donuts!
The grass around the bottom of the truck is actually cake also! I colored the cake batter green. After it cooled I crumbled it up to make it look like grass. For the dirt I just the old crushed Oreos trick! I used various star tips to pipe the entire cake.
It may have taken me most of the day to make this cake but my son loved his cake and I hope I can get better and better at making cakes with each one that I do!
