My daughter is a huge Nancy Drew game fan. She has been playing the HERS interactive games for years. We bought her all the games for her birthday. I decided to buy her a Nancy Drew cake. There were none out there. So I thought I would make one.
I used a 10″ cake pan that was 3″ deep. I slice it in half and frosted with buttercream frosting. I dyed the frosting yellow and turquoise like the old Nancy Drew Books. I made a Nancy silhouette from fondant I dyed black. I made little feet print and a magnifying glass from fondant as well.
I was afraid the sides would look bare so I used fondant to make items from some of her favorite games. I made the mask from Danger By Design, the hand print from the Scarlett Hand and a broken clock face from the Secret of the Old Clock. I made question marks that were supposed to be clues.
She loved her cake. I made white almond sour cream cake mix from a recipe I found on the internet and added cocoa powder to make the cake chocolate as chocolate is her favorite. I was pretty proud of it since this was the first time I made a cake that wasn’t a box cake mix and a tub of frosting from the grocery store.
