Coolest Nemo Birthday Cake

My 2 year old loves the Disney movie Finding Nemo, so I decided to create a Nemo birthday cake for his Nemo party theme.

I made a 10 inch round cake in a spring form pan. I then frosted the entire cake with turquoise buttercream frosting. On the top of the cake I used a wave motion to create a water look. I then found a Finding Nemo picture online and cut it out and traced it onto the center of the cake.

I used black frosting to outline the Nemo. I then piped in the white with a small star tip. Last, I piped in the orange with a small star tip. For the fins I ran the star across the fin to create a more realistic look. I wrote “Happy Birthday Drew” freehanded.

To finish it off I piped in a border between the cake and the plate to camouflage the gap between the cake and the plate.
