Coolest Nemo Birthday Cake Idea

I made this Nemo Birthday Cake Idea for my son’s 4th birthday. I made 2 rectangular cakes using 2 packets of Betty Crocker’s Mudcake cake mix. I put one on top of the other using chocolate frosting in the middle. I found a picture of Nemo online and enlarged it to use as a template to cut out the shape.

I then covered the whole cake in buttercream icing tinted orange using a blend of yellow and red powder colours. Using a mix of whipped cream and icing sugar I added the white stripes and then used a tube of black gel icing to do the details. I also used a fork to add the look of a tail and top fin. I covered my cake board with aqua coloured tissue paper and added starfish and weeds using coloured buttercream.

I was really happy with one as it was a last minute change of plan (when I started making a train cake my son says “No Mum, I want Nemo!”)
