I surprised my son with a NY Yankees cake for his 8th birthday. I thought it would be difficult. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of this cake. I made my favorite cake in 2 9inch round pans. I stacked and frosted it. I added blue dye to buttercream (I ran out and it’s not as dark as it should be). I piped the edges of the cake with this. And added lines top to bottom as well.
I went online and printed off the logo and traced it onto the top with a tooth pick. I then filled the outline in with the blue frosting. In retrospect I wished I had traced it onto blue fondant instead. Oh well what’s done is done. Finally I took a can of white frosting and piped long white roll like things all around the bottom making it look like the infamous hat.
My husband and son were both very impressed.
I HAVE to use this idea for my son’s 13th birthday, but I’d use a smaller logo so I can pipe Happy Birthday Corey underneath the logo. This is a really cool cake; it looks both simple and impressive at the same time! I was wondering how I was going to find a stencil for the logo-neat idea printing it out and tracing it with a toothpick. Thank you SO much for sharing!
i have been searching online for where to buy a yankees cake and i like your idea so much, i am going to do this too!!! thank you!
