I used two of my glass Pyrex bowls to bake the cake, one small (for the head) one big (for the body). Once they were cooled I cut a small piece of the big one so it could sit on it’s side. I did the same with the small one so I could set it on top of the body to be the head. I secured them together with frosting and skewers.
I covered the belly with white frosting and the rest of the body and head with chocolate frosting. The ears were Oreo’s halved and pushed into the cake and then covered with frosting. To get a feather like look I used the back of a spoon (I dipped it into hot water to keep it slippery and not sticky in between feathers). I placed mini chocolate chips on his belly.
His eyes are opened Oreo cookies with junior mints glued to it with frosting. His beak and talons are banana runts. I made this owl cake for my daughters “Look Whooo’s 1” birthday party. It was a hit! And I loved how it turned out. After a few hours it did start to lean a bit and I did have to prop it up from behind for the last little bit.
