My daughter really is crazy about Peppa so it wasn’t hard for me to decide what her 2nd birthday cake should look like. I downloaded the image of Peppa that I liked from the web and printed it in large format so I can shape the sponge for the cake.
For the background I bought pre-made icing approx 1kg and food colors. I tried to use natural food colors wherever I could, though for some shades I needed artificial ones. The rest of background was just my imagination.
For Peppa I used classic recipe for chocolate cake, although I made it lower with only two lines of sponge shaped like Peppa and chocolate filling in between. Then I made a little bit of hard butter cream that I put on the cake in thin layer so that I don’t have any lumps and that filling doesn’t leak on the sides. I put it in the fridge for a few hours for the butter cream to harden a little bit. Then I made a lot of soft butter cream in which I added food colors to get Peppa’s dress, face and boots. At the end I made a little bit of darker pink butter cream for end lines on Peppa’s face and little hands.
Unfortunately I didn’t have any space left on the plate for little tail (anyway, my daughter liked it) and she didn’t even notice that the tail is missing!
