This homemade Peppa pig birthday cake is my first attempt (with the help of my husband!!!! ) at such a cake. A friend of mine approached me and asked if I would make the cake for her daughters birthday.
The cake was made from an 11-inch square cake tin using a sponge mixture. The sponge mixture consisted of: 12Oz Butter, 12Oz Castor sugar, 14Oz Self Raisin Flour, 6 Eggs, 1tsp vanilla essence and 6 tbsp of milk. The filling is butter cream and strawberry jam.
The butter cream was made using the recipe on the reverse of the icing packet. The cake was covered in regal white icing and coloured using edible food colouring. Peppa was made with regal ice fondant using a picture of Peppa as a stencil. The lettering was done using a flower paste mixture and a letter stencil which was initially difficult to use, but sheer determination paid off in the end.
Can’t wait for the next project!!
It was very nice too!
For a first attempt you did a great job. You should be proud!
I am hoping to make a similar cake for my daughter’s 2nd birthday but I am a complete novice at cake making and have never iced anything so not really looking forward to the attempt.
I have 3 questions for you though:
– My daughter wants a chocolate cake, would I just add cocoa powder to your recipe?
– Can this cake be made the day before?
– How many did it serve?
Thanks a lot and hopefully my attempt will not be too far removed from yours.
Antonia
Yes you can add about three tablespoons of cocoa powder to make a choc cake. The cake will last for around 4 days after it is iced and will serve around 55 depending on size of portions!!! Good Luck
how did you get the website name to print in the cake so firm? hahaha :)
