My son wanted a Phineas and Ferb Birthday cake for his 5th birthday but there are no good cakes out there yet. I looked at some of the ideas of from this website but decided that I wasn’t talented enough with fondant or free-handing on a sheet cake to replicate those cakes. So, instead, I opted to make my own “cut out figures” since there are no cake pans yet.
In order to accomplish this, I looked at a series of internet photos and sketched a pattern of the two characters on paper first. There are even websites on “How to draw Phineas and Ferb” which really helped with the details. I then cut out the characters and placed the paper pattern on two quarter sized sheet cakes made at home with store bought mixes. I literally then cut out the characters from the cake.
The rest was just “starring” in the details with various icing colors (and I use pre-made Wilton icing to save time). It was quite a hit and not that difficult to do. Covering the spiked hair with frosting was probably the biggest challenge because you really have to get the icing into those crevices.
My son was thrilled and the cakes were a big hit.
amazing, you are very talented and patient, great job
Wow! That looks great.
You did a great job. They look like professional cakes. Very talented.
Great job! I am going to use your inspiration for my son’s 6th birthday this weekend.
