I made this Pink Carousel Cake for my daughter’s 2nd Birthday, the idea was from the Woman’s Weekly Cake book.
It was about a three day job (I work full time).
Most important part of this cake is that the inner cylinder and the eight dowel sticks MUST be the exact same height – I found this tricky as I made it all from scratch, cut the dowel to size etc.
I made the fondant, which will NOT be happening again as it was hard to get the consistency right. I have used the ready to roll stuff before and it is much easier.
I used the marshmallows on the top as the muffin did not have the nice smooth surface.
I love this cake, what is the horses made out of are they just card or fondant?
This is one if the most amazing cakes I have ever seen! How did you do the top bit, Is it made of
cake too?
I have the cookbook with this in it, the top bit is a muffin and the horses are craftwood shapes that you can buy in Australia. I am going to make this for my daughter’s first birthday in November.
