I made this pink handbag cake for a friend’s niece. I started by making a 10 inch square cake. I cut it in half and stacked the two halves together sandwiched with butter cream and jam so that it was a tall cake. I carved the cake using templates then covered in butter cream to crumb coat.
The cake was then covered in pink sugar paste. I made fabric flowers and attached them using pink royal icing. I made two handles from sugar paste and four rings to attach handles to bag. These I sprayed silver with edible spray. I also made a clasp and colored that silver too. The piping on the seams was simply sugar paste rolled thin and glued with edible glue. The cake went down well but it seemed a shame to eat it.
