We got a lot of our ideas for this Pirate Ship Birthday Cake from this site and added a few of our own.
The ocean was made with two cakes side by side. The pirate cake we used a small roasting pan and the lid (we wanted the shape without having to cut it to much). The lid piece we cut about three inches out of the middle (using the rounded ends only). We laid the top pieces on top of the other piece overhanging to give it more shape. Frosted with chocolate frosting.
Decorations were malted balls, root beer barrels, pretzels, tootsie rolls, the sails were made with fruit roll-ups. We had a lot of fun making this cake and look forward to making more.
