My grandson wanted a Pirate party for his 6th birthday. I hired a Wilton’s Pirate Ship cake tin, bought a packet of cake mix, icing sugar and white margarine. Then I just followed the instructions. I changed some colors, put cut Flake canons on the ship and made 3 pirates from small Marie biscuits iced with butter icing and a few rainbow balls. The red and white colors I made with white margarine and red and black powder food coloring instead of liquid food coloring.
I placed the cake on a silver tray and covered it with light blue butter icing. To separate the water at the bottom from the sky above, I colored coconut blue and sprinkled it on top of the butter icing. I also made 2 clouds in the sky from white coconut. After the 1st photo was taken, I also iced yellow swords for each pirate. You can see that on the 2nd photo. My grandson and his friends thought the cake looked beautiful and they enjoyed it very much.
Absolutely beautiful. Love it!
It’s absolutely amazing how you individualised your cake. The only two pirate ship cakes baked in a Wilton’s cake tin are yours and Cake 102. You used exactly the same tin and instructions but they look totally different and they are both beautiful. I like your bright colours.
