I made this Pirate Ship birthday cake for my son’s 3rd birthday. It was really easy. I used 4 store bought loaves glued to each other with Dulce de Leche and I sculpted the shape of the boat from there. Then I frosted the cake with milk chocolate frosting and used a fork to give the wooden effect.
It helped to put the cake in the freezer for a while before frosting and to use the frosting at room temperature. The base of the cake is a brownie, because I wanted it to be dense enough to support the weight of the boat. I frosted it with whipped cream and used the Wilton blue spray.
For the sails I used skewers and green construction paper and I used pirate Playmovil figures, fishies candy and chocolate coins for decoration. It was a simple cake to make and any imperfection can be easily hidden by the decorations.
Everyone was impressed and my son was so happy.
