This pirate ship cake is completely edible except for the paper sails and 3 bamboo skewers inside the cookie masts (for support). I used boxed cake mix and ready-to-decorate frosting & icing from a local grocery store. It’s a 2 layer cake; the bottom was made with a Wilton football mold and the top was cut out from a Wilton 9×13 rectangle. The ship details were made with the following ingredients:
– Pepperidge Farm Pirouette Cookies (masts and cannons)
– Pretzels (railings, sail rigging’s, supports for upper back end)
– Marshmallows (crows nests)
– Rootbeer barrels (casks)
– Brach caramels (cut in quarters – bales or crates)
– Chocolate balls (cannon balls)
– Lifesavers (port holes)
I made this cake for “Pirate Day” at my son’s Kindergarten class. It was fun to make…and everyone loved it! It tasted good too!
This is really great! I know the class must have gone wild about it.
