I created this Police Uniform Birthday Cake for my nephew’s 5th birthday. I used a 15×12 sheet pan.I made a double layer of this for the main shirt of the cake. I also used a 9×13 inch pan to create the arms of the cake.
The cake is completed covered in butter cream icing. It took 3 double batches of butter cream icing to use in between the layers of the cake and to cover the entire cake. I used fondant to create the Walkie Talkie, badge, shirt collar, tie, pockets, name badge and handcuffs. To give the badge and handcuffs more of a metal look I dusted them in silver and gold pearl dust.
This cake was easy to create and did not take too long to complete. I think in total I put about 5 hours into the entire cake including that bake time of the cake. To cut time in icing the cake I used the large Wilton icing tip. This allows you to get a even layer of icing on the cake. I also used the Viva paper towel trick to smooth the icing out.
