Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie. Each year I make a list of cakes that I want to practice on. This hot chicken wings cake got added to that list because I was blown away when I got the idea.
I’m pretty handy at making cakes and shaping fondant to look like food , but I was nervous because this was my first time I was attempting this wings cake.
Hot Chicken Wings Cake Instructions
- The bottom 12 inch cake is vanilla covered in black fondant with a bead border.
- I used cake pops for the wings. I shaped them to the desired look and dipped them.
- I used a little buttercream on each one them and covered them in fondant. I took the time to cover, but wrinkle the fondant to look like the skin of the chicken.
- For the glaze I used piping gel mixed with red and a little ivory. I brushed it on with a wide tip paint brush.
- Then I went back over the wings with a little brown to make them look like they had burned crispy edges.
- I molded a bowl out of gum paste and used cream cheese for the dipping sauce.
I was super excited to make this cake. My mom took this cake to work with her because they had a potluck there. She said people were picking up the wings and dipping them in the sauce. It was only after they all bit into them that they realized the wings were cake. Lol! As you can see, this cake idea is perfect for a fun prank.
