This Pregnant Belly Baby Shower Cake is my version of the pregnant belly cakes I found on this site. This was also my first attempt at covering a cake with fondant. I was surprised, and relieved, to find that it’s much easier than I expected!
I began with 2 sheet cakes (10″x15″x1″). I baked more cake in 2 Pampered Chef Prep Bowls to form the breasts, and in the Betty Crocker dome pan insert for the belly.
I filled and stacked the sheet cakes, then leveled and “glued” the round cakes on top with buttercream. Next I carved the shirt shape, dirty iced the entire cake with buttercream, and refrigerated overnight.
The next morning I covered the entire cake in white fondant. I added the ribbon and dot details by tinting more white fondant with Wilton “teal” gel color. I used a pastry cutter for the edging on the ribbon, and a circle cutter for the dots. I adhered them with just a little water to bond them to the white fondant.
I really like this cake you are good. If It were on a scale from one to ten I would have to give you a ten for this one.
