I made this Pretty in Pink Barbie cake for my little girl’s 4th birthday. It was a huge success and given results was very easy. I made the candy decorations a few nights before making the cake itself. Made decorations with “orchard” white icing adding color and cookie cutting shapes out( bake in 50C oven for 1.5 hrs). Used a dolly tin for skirt and round cake as base. Both were chocolate as is my daughter’s favorite.
I cut dolly skirt into 3 layers (so 4 layers in total with round cake). Cookie cut a hole in top layer to fit dolly in (I had removed legs but you can cookie cut each layer to fit in a whole doll). Made butter icing which went between layers and on exterior of cake. Smoothed icing layer by dragging a piece of card upwards over it then placed cake in fridge for 30mins to set.
I then iced cake again in desired colors and decorated with candy flowers. I made a bodice for doll from “orchards” white icing, cutting into shape on the doll and placed little silver candy balls down back as buttons.
Once doll was dressed I placed her in the hole at top of skirt. I covered gaps with more butter icing and made a sash with icing to finish off. To quote my daughter “BEST CAKE EVER” .
