This homemade Princess cake was very easy and inexpensive for my princess! My daughter was turning three around the 4th of July and she, of course, is very into princesses. I wanted to buy her a princess doll anyway so I asked my very creative mother-in-law to help me make it into a cake.
We used two angel food cakes and stacked them on top of each other. We then cut off the excess for shaping and used that to fill in around the Barbie, so she wouldn’t tip over. The doll’s clothing was removed, and her hair tied up so that the frosting would not get on it.
For the frosting, we used two pints of organic heavy whipping cream tinted with organic red food coloring. We used a cake-decorating tip for the bottom, body and front ruffles. We then got some princess candles and put them in the side and front. We served it with strawberry ice cream. It definitely was a hit and now she gets to play with her doll!
