This is my first Homemade Princess Castle Birthday Cake. I made this cake for my daughter’s 6th Birthday! I was pricing cakes around my area grocery stores and since licensed cakes are usually more expensive and since we are on a budget I decided to give it a try to make one myself. I’ve made cakes before but I’ve never tried anything like this before, and I’m pretty happy with the results and so was my daughter.
This cake was about 25.00 to make including the toys on top. I bought the cake topper and buttercream frosting from my favorite bakery.
I used 2 boxes of cake mixes, 2 pounds of white frosting, 1/4 pound of green and pink frosting and another 1/4 pound of blue and yellow. I used a 9in pan for the 2 bottom pieces that I got at the Dollar store and 7in cakes (2) for the top half. I used Wilton tips to create the flowers, grass ivy and door, which was only a couple of dollars at the craft store.
I layed the cakes, biggest to smallest on top and used 2 different kinds of ice cream cones to make the top appear castle like. I stumbled on this sight before and got a few ideas from other cakes but had to create my own original design because I wanted to make sure it was everything my daughter wanted and more.
I will be making another larger version for her big party next weekend. So hopefully I could inspire other Moms at the party.
