I made this Princess Castle Birthday Cake for my daughter’s very 1st birthday! She is our first child and our princess, so we just had to do it! It was the first time I ever attempted anything like this. Everybody was so happy with the way it turned out and I was pretty darn proud of myself too! I’m sure my baby won’t remember it, but I’ve got the pics!
I started by searching online for pictures and ideas of castle cakes and combined a few different ideas to make the best one! I used a huge roasting pan to make the base of the castle. I used two layers and used Pillsbury butter recipe cake mixes.
I used 3 9″ rounds for the top of the castle. I baked the cakes ahead of time and put them in the freezer so that they would be easier to frost.(I think putting them in the freezer made the cake really moist and delicious). I used sugar cones and ice cream cones to make the towers on the cake. I filled them with the extra cake that I had trimmed off. I pushed wooden skewers through the cones and through the cakes to keep them stable.
I decorated the castle with white and pink frosting, miniature marshmallows, pink airhead candy, a Hershey’s chocolate candy bar, and some cute princess stickers.
I had so much fun making this cake, I took a bunch of pictures as I was building my masterpiece!
