This Homemade Princess Castle Birthday Cake was fairly simply to make. It is two 8×8 square cakes beneath two 6 inch rounds. The towers are two regular ice cream cones with a upside down sugar cone. The towers I spread melted pink chocolate (found at any party store) on because I read many reviews how difficult it was to make frosting stick to cones.
Before the chocolate melted, I stuck the candy on them and them set each tower down to dry individually while I decorated the rest of the cake. The door is a Hershey’s bar and the windows are mini Chessman cookies painted with icing. The towers are decorated with large smarties and rip n roll candy. I lined each layer with dots also. The water in the moat is just blue frosting and the “grass” is coconut died green (easy to do- just put it all in a bag and shake it- it turns out really well). The fish are Swedish fish and the draw bridge is 2 licorice and pirouine cookies as the logs.
I made the cake strawberry inside with strawberry frosting on the outside. It took about 3 hours to do and was about $80 for all ingredients. MAKE SURE you choose a sturdy plate to make it on, as cardboard WILL NOT HOLD IT.
This cake was really fun to make and really was very easy.
