This Princess Castle Cake is a cake someone asked me to make for their daughter’s 1st birthday. It’s a 8″ square cake and a 6″ round cake. The bottom is chocolate cake and the top is strawberry cake. Both cakes are frosted with buttercream and I used a brick template to get the texture on the sides. The towers are cardboard tubes from wrapping paper with regular ice cream cones dropped in the top and glued on with royal icing.
On top of the tower is sugar cones and those were also glued on with royal icing. The cardboard tubes were coated with royal icing and covered with fondant and them I rolled it over the brick template to get the texture. I used a round cookie cutter to carve out a small portion of each corner of the square cake to help the towers get a better fit against the cake. The border around the top of the square cake is sugar cubes and the hearts were piped on with royal icing.
