A close friend of mine asked me to make a princess castle cake for her daughter’s 5th birthday. I was so excited because I’d always wanted to do a castle cake, but hadn’t had the opportunity.
I made this cake with an 8 inch square topped with a 6 1/2 inch square which was covered in fondant. I had to make impressions in the fondant to give it that stone look. The turrets were made of paper towel rolls with a cake cone stuck down in it(these were covered in fondant), then topped with an upside down sugar cone (because I was running out of fondant, I decided to try some red food coloring mist, by Wilton. It worked out perfectly, and the little girl’s favorite colors are pink and red too).
The rest was simply decorating with fondant flowers and piping. After it was all done, I decided to add the initial topped with a tiara just to give it that extra-special something. Hope you like!
