I made this Princess doll cake for my niece Rylee’s 2nd birthday. We were able to take the doll cake off and give it to the birthday girl for her special day.
The skirt is made with a Wilton’s dome pan. I used white frosting and then sprayed with a purple spray to give it a magical iridescent look. I piped a little ruffled flower spray around the bottom of the skirt with white and pink frosting.
I raised the arms of the doll pick and used frosting to make a bodice then sprayed with purple spray. After inserting the doll I piped around the waist to cover any gaps then added a ruffle at her breast. After lowering her arms I did little finishing touches by adding a necklace and little earrings. I made the wings from a wide wired ribbon and inserted behind her with a floral pick.
The base is made with a 12″ round, 3″ deep pan. I iced with pink icing then sprayed a light coat of purple, added the doll on top then sprinkled with entire cake with clear and pink sugar glitter. More white flower sprays were added around the base cake.
I used 3 cake mixes and 5 cans of frosting to make this cake. Tip: I added 1/2 cup of powdered sugar to thicken frosting for decorating.
