Coolest Purse Birthday Cake Design

I made this Purse Birthday Cake Design for my sister’s 37th birthday, modeled after the Coach purse that I bought as her actual present. It’s two 9×13″ white cakes that I cut and stacked with layers of vanilla buttercream and stabilized the layers with two dowel rods. I then trimmed the layers to make the shape of the purse, and frosted with buttercream.

Once the buttercream was firm, I covered the purse in a light gray marshmallow fondant, and hand painted the Coach C’s with black gel food coloring. Then I made the zipper, piping, straps, buttons, zipper pull, and signature coach tags out of fondant that I dyed or “painted” to match.
