I had planned on making a Purse Birthday Cake Design for my girlfriend’s birthday but her mom called me wanting the cake a day earlier than I had planned so I wasn’t able to prepare some of the fondant pieces ahead of time so they could dry.
I made a 1/2 sheet cake and cut it in half and iced the layers with buttercream and stood it up on the ends. I probably should have made another layer as I wasn’t sure how to keep it from tumbling over (it did once, but I took a little of the bottom and it seemed to do the trick). I iced the entire cake in buttercream and topped with hot pink fondant. I cut the green pieces out and attached with water.
I used a little edible glitter to paint Juicy on the front of the cake and some on the silver accent pieces. I had to lay the strap over the top of the cake since it was one of the pieces I wanted to dry ahead of time so it could stand up but time didn’t allow it. I think it turned out pretty cute and she absolutely loved it.
