I was asked to do a cake to do with a rag doll. Did not want to make a doll shape cake as they only wanted a small cake and gave it some thought. Eventually I had the idea of making a doll out of Rice Krispies and marshmallows, like the Rice Krispie treats. I knew it would be light enough to sit on the cake even when covered in fondant icing.
So I melted my marshmallows and mixed in my Rice Krispies and did not add any butter. When cool enough to handle I shaped it into a doll shape. I made her sitting down to make her more stable. I then wrapped her in parchment paper and sat her in the fridge to cool.
I made my usual vanilla sponge layered into three with vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam. I covered the cake with pink Marshmallow fondant (MMF). I then covered the doll with the MMF and made her clothes which I then added lustre dust to. I used a small rose cutter to emboss the design onto her clothes. I made her hair out of extruded icing and painted on her features.
Apparently every single bit of her was eaten with relish!
That is too cool. Very unique. I might have to try that one. You did great.
She is an absolute doll! Pun intended. This is darling. Thanks for sharing.
