This Rainbow Dragon Cake is my oldest son’s 5th birthday cake, requested by him and insanely agree to by me. I got the design idea from many of the cakes on this site, and obsessed (happily) over my plan for quite some time.
I used food coloring to make the colors of the rainbow for the body. Triangle-shaped gummies made good wings, and gummy fruit wedges served well for back spikes. I couldn’t deal with the candy melts or fondant, too crazy for me. The fire is fruit leather sprinkled with colored sugar. Teeth and toes are Dots candy. The eyes are marshmallows cut in half with a raisin stuck in the middle.
I had a total blast making this cake, but it wasn’t exactly a piece of cake!
