I made this Rapunzel Birthday Cake Design for my niece for her 3rd birthday. This was my first fondant and my first theme cake! I was clueless starting out but slowly figured it out.
First, I used a box mix as my base and added a few things to make a white almond sour cream cake (I know, risky for a 3 year old but she loved it)! I made buttercream icing and then put a rolled fondant over it and used buttercream to decorate. I used all recipes from the internet and I am still amazed how well it turned out! I ended up cheating a bit for the tower because I did not have the ingredients to make one out of rice krispie treats as others suggested. So I used my Wilton castle kit. I used only minimal decorations on the tower because I ran out of time. I never did get the tower to be secure but it looked good for pictures!
I know it’s not anything super fancy but I am proud considering I learned to do this from reading online! If I can do this, anyone can!
Your cake is awesome. I’m super nervous because I started to make my daughters cake and it looks terrible. Great job!
