Coolest Roses Cake

It was my son’s girlfriend birthday so he asked me to bake her a cake. This roses cake is a 6″ orange cake iced with buttercream icing and the outer is covered in a colored fondant icing. For the top of the cake I rolled out fondant, cut it in width of about 2 inches and length about 4-5 inches. I rolled the fondant length wise to form a rose. The top of the rose I shaped and the bottom I pinched together removing any excess. I repeated this until all my roses were formed.

For the leaves I used a leaf cutter. I used a toothpick to create the veins of the leaf. I took a crimper to create the design around the top edge of the cake. I used royal icing to draw the flowers and designs around the sides of the cake.

Once done I took a fine brush and pulled in the royal icing from the outer edges in of the flower. I let that dry. Once dry I took petal dust and brushed it lightly onto my flowers. I then placed all my roses and leaves on the cake.

Lastly I created a paint with silver luster dust and painted all my outer edges. She loved the cake and was very surprised.
