This rum bottle cake was great. I had a really great time making this one. This was baked for my brother n law’s 30th birthday and this was his favorite kind of drink.
I used a regular 13 x 9 pan and used 1 1/2 boxes of cake mix to it. I then put the rest of the cake mix in a 8 x 8 pan and baked that too. ( I did not put any alcohol in my cake since children were going to have some also).
When cooled I placed the 8 x 8 on top of the 13 x 9 baked cake and cut the top portion to look like the top of a beer bottle. I then covered the cake with a light layer of icing and used fondant I made to cover the cake. I star tipped around the border to separate it from the cake sheet.
For the label, I just went online and printed it off the computer on a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper and put some icing on the back of it and then placed it on the cake. I then also star tipped around that to give it a border. The label later just peeled right off and we ate the cake.
This cake was a great hit and was really cool because the party was at a bowling alley when the black lights came on the label on the cake glowed!
