I made this Ryan James Wrestling Cake for my nephew who was nine this year. He loves the wrestling so thought he would love this cake. I baked the large round cake and then cooked a large square one too and then cut the square cake into shape the sides of the belt. Both were plain sponge cakes.
I left them to cool, and in the large round cake I put strawberry jam and buttercream, but on the sides I left it just plain sponge for the children who do not like jam. I buttercreamed the whole cake so it stayed in place and the iced with black icing. I then did the gold pieces on the top, cutting them out of white icing and then putting the wording on and then colouring the gold dusting over the top.
He loved it!
