This cake was a last minute favour for a friend whose little boy was turning 5 and who loves Scooby Doo. I spent hours searching the net for Scooby cakes and stumbled across this fantastic site where I got some great ideas from.
The cake is a plain chocolate cake as Jonti’s Mom was worried that mud cake would be too rich. I covered both the cake and board with coloured fondant. All the images on the cake are edible and made with royal icing. I picked some images from a comic book that my son had co-incidentally just bought and which I scanned and enlarged on my Mac. I used a colouring-in picture for the main image of Scooby and Shaggy. I had to put the fan on all the runouts to make sure that they dried properly. The shading on the images was done using chalks (first time I used them and they were fantastic). I meant to put a ribbon around the board, but for the life of me could not get it to stick!!!
I loved making this cake although I wish I had a few more days to ensure that all the fondant had dried properly.
