Coolest Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Cake

My son loves Scooby Doo, so for his birthday he wanted a Homemade Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Cake with all of the characters around it. This was the best I could come up with. I actually used a cake picture from this website to replicate the mystery machine. I baked 2 10×14 yellow pound cakes (that way it is easier to carve). I put chocolate fudge icing between the stacked cakes. I carved out the shape of the mystery machine after the cakes cooled.

Using the Wilton “high humidity” icing recipe, I tinted some black, teal, green, and orange. I began to outline all of the detail of the van in black, then filled in with the appropriate colors. The orange flowers are made of orange marshmallow fondant. The wheels (and front spare tire) are Oreos. I also made different color fondant to stamp out Happy Birthday Brady and place at the bottom. I purchased the characters at Toys-R-Us and placed them around the mystery machine

Overall, the cake was a huge hit with my son and his guests. It was very time consuming, but looked great in the end.
