I made this Sea Turtle Cake Idea for a friend’s baby shower. She was having her first boy and ocean was her theme. I made two choc. fudge cakes, 1 9″ round and 1 11×14 cake. I hand carved the flippers and the shell. I made modeling chocolate for the shell pieces, buttercream for the icing and some fondant for accents. The ocean is royal icing (my first try at that).

I carved the shell first then worked the legs in and just cut down and built up as needed so it looked turtle-ish without icing. Then I applied the icing and other pieces in the proper place. I’m really happy with how it turned out!
