My two-year-old loves Sesame Street so much, so I designed this Sesame Street Cake for her birthday party. The actual cake is a 3-tiered, 12 inch, chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting. I bought Wilton pure white fondant and dyed it purple to cover the cake. Then I made the green “Happy Birthday” sign out of fondant and applied it to the cake using royal icing.
piped the yellow outline around the green sign, and piped the number “2” and the words “Happy Birthday” to the green fondant. Using my finger, I spread a thin layer of corn syrup over the green before I piped the icing on to make it stick. I then cut circles out of yellow fondant and applied to the cake with royal icing.
I bought pre-dyed fondant in yellow, blue, red, and green to use for the cake. I molded the Elmo and Grover out of the pre-dyed fondant, and stuck them into the cake with a toothpick. I made little blocks out of fondant and piped her name right onto them.
I love this cake! It’s the inspiration for my daughter’s 2nd birthday cake. The color, shapes and style are so beautiful and fun!
It’s touching to see how much all these Moms on this site love their kids, going through all the effort to make the “perfect” cake. Love it!
